New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif faced embarrassment for spreading lies on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). In a post, Shahbaz Sharif accused India of "invading" Jammu and Kashmir and committing "human rights violations." He wrote, "Every year, October 27th is the darkest day in Kashmir's history. 78 years ago, on this day, the Indian Army arrived in Srinagar and captured it."

Shahbaz further said, “For almost eight decades, the people of Jammu and Kashmir, illegally occupied by India, have suffered immense hardship and oppression.”

X did a fact-check.

X Community Notes issued a fact check on this post by Shahbaz Sharif. The note read, "This is a misleading claim. Maharaja Hari Singh signed the Instrument of Accession with India on October 26, 1947. Subsequently, India sent troops to defend Jammu and Kashmir on October 27, 1947."

The community notes also cited a historical document in which Maharaja Hari Singh had agreed to the integration of Jammu and Kashmir into India.
