Pakistan deploys anti-drone systems along LoC fearing Operation Sindoor-like action from India

Islamabad (The Uttam Hindu): Pakistan has deployed anti-drone systems near the Line of Control (LoC) in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). According to reports, the new Counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems (C-UAS) have been installed in the Rawalakot, Kotli, and Bhimber sectors. Their purpose is reportedly to strengthen aerial surveillance and electronic warfare capabilities near the border .


C-UAS is a technology used to identify, track, and jam/disable enemy drones . Reports claim that Pakistan has deployed over 30 specialized anti-drone units along the LoC . This deployment is reportedly being carried out in the Kotli-Bhimber area by brigades under the 12th and 23rd Infantry Divisions of Murree.


Which systems are claimed to be installed?

According to reports, among the deployed equipment—


SPYDER Counter-UAS System : Drone identification/tracking via radio frequency, detection capability of small drones and loitering munitions (reported up to 10 km).


'Sufra' jamming gun : Shoulder-mounted jammer with a range of about 1.5 km and capable of disrupting the drone's control/video/GPS links.


Air Defense Weapons Also Enhanced

In addition to anti-drone systems, Pakistan is also reportedly deploying/activating some air defense weapons in forward areas. Reports also mention Oerlikon GDF 35mm anti-aircraft guns (with radar support) and Anza Mk-II/Mk-III MANPADS , which are said to be capable of engaging low-flying targets.


According to reports, these deployments indicate Pakistan's growing vigilance regarding security along its western border. It is also being claimed that Pakistan is in talks with Turkey and China to purchase drones and air defense systems .
