Pakistan made 60 appeals to US to halt India's Operation Sindoor, spending ₹45 crore on lobbying
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu) : US Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) documents have revealed that, according to media reports, Pakistan lobbied through its diplomats in the US to prevent war. This included nearly 60 contacts with top administration officials, lawmakers, the Pentagon, and State Department officials.
Pakistan spent approximately ₹450 million (US$1.2 million) on six lobbying firms to pressure India to side with the US. According to the documents, Pakistan engaged approximately 60 times with officials from the US administration, lawmakers, the Pentagon, and the State Department. Negotiations for a ceasefire were conducted through emails, phone calls, and one-on-one meetings. Meanwhile, the Indian Embassy also engaged the US lobbying firm SHW Partners LLC. The firm helped India establish contacts with the White House, the National Security Council, and US trade officials between April and December 2025. The four-day military standoff between India and Pakistan ended on May 10, and the firm also facilitated discussions on an India-US trade agreement and media coverage.
The documents also revealed that Syden Law LLP assisted Pakistan in expanding its economic partnership with the United States and securing support during tensions. The firm's role included arranging meetings, phone calls, and emails connecting officials from both countries.
