Islamabad (The Uttam Hindu): The ongoing border dispute and tension between Pakistan and Afghanistan has now reached a dangerous turning point. Pakistan's notorious and UN-banned terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) has for the first time openly sided with the Pakistani army and directly threatened to attack Afghanistan. Lashkar has declared that if necessary, it is ready to fight a war against Afghanistan along with the Pakistani army. This statement has not only increased the bitterness in the relations between the two neighboring countries, but has also exposed the deep ties between the Pakistani government and terrorist organizations to the world.

Qari Yaqub Sheikh, a senior leader of Lashkar-e-Taiba and considered very close to Mumbai attacks mastermind Hafiz Saeed, issued this sensational threat in a video message. In the video, Yaqub Sheikh first welcomed the appointment of Pakistani Army Chief General Asim Munir as the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and called it a positive step for Pakistan. Immediately after this, he warned the Taliban government of Afghanistan that if the Afghan government and Taliban do not give written assurance that their soil will not be used for anti-Islamabad activities, the consequences will be serious.

In his video message, the terrorist commander referred to the fatwa issued by Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Afghan ulema, which stated that Afghan soil should not be used against Pakistan. Yakub Sheikh said that Pakistan has always made sacrifices for Afghanistan, but has received only betrayal in return. He threatened that “if Afghanistan does not stop anti-Pakistan activities from its soil, Lashkar-e-Taiba will stand shoulder to shoulder with the Pakistani army to fight Afghanistan and the terrorist networks present there.”

This video of the Lashkar commander is rapidly going viral on social media, and is being seen as adding fuel to the fire burning on the Pak-Afghan border. Defense experts believe that a banned terrorist organization openly supporting the country's army and threatening to attack another country proves that there is still a deep strategic alliance between the Pakistani army and its terrorist groups. This threat from Lashkar has also made it clear that Pakistan is using these terrorist groups as a weapon of its foreign policy, parallel to its army, which is likely to further increase instability in the region.
