Pakistan's Deadly Airstrike: 30 Civilians Killed in Midnight Attack
Peshawar (The Uttam Hindu): In a horrific incident late Sunday night in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the Pakistani army has been accused of carrying out an airstrike on its own civilians. At least 30 people, including women and children, were killed and more than 20 others were seriously injured when fighter jets bombed sleeping residents in Matre Dara village in the Tirah Valley.
According to local sources, the horrific incident occurred around 2 a.m. Sunday night, while villagers were fast asleep in their homes. Suddenly, Pakistani Army JF-17 fighter jets began bombing the village. Locals claim the jets dropped eight LS-6 bombs, shaking the entire area. The blasts caused several houses to collapse, leaving sleeping residents buried alive under the rubble.
Following the attack, the entire village was plunged into mourning and screaming. Devastation lay everywhere, and many homes were reduced to heaps of rubble. Ten hours after the incident, locals and rescue teams were still working on Monday afternoon to recover bodies from the debris. The injured were admitted to nearby hospitals. Many people are still feared trapped under the rubble, raising fears that the death toll could rise further.
According to media reports, locals have alleged that the Pakistani army deliberately targeted civilian homes. The attack has sparked panic and widespread anger against the government in the area.
