From Guests to Customers: This Startup Turns Weddings into Profit-Making Events
Paris (The Uttam Hindu): Weddings are meant to be one of the most memorable days in a couple’s life, but with soaring costs, many find it difficult to manage expenses. A Paris-based startup has come up with a unique solution that not only reduces costs for couples but also allows them to earn money from their big day.
The startup, named “Inviteen”, offers couples a platform to sell wedding tickets to strangers. These ticket buyers attend the ceremony just like regular guests—enjoying the music, food, and festive atmosphere. According to The Guardian, tickets can range anywhere from €150 (approx. ₹15,350) to €400 (approx. ₹40,941).
The idea was born when founder Katia Lekskurki’s daughter innocently asked why their family had not been invited to a wedding, even though their home was rented out to the guests. This sparked Katia’s thought: “What if people could buy tickets to weddings and help couples financially at the same time?”
Katia explains that many people without large families or those curious about experiencing weddings from different cultures are eager to buy these tickets. “It’s fascinating to witness diverse traditions, music, and decorations—even if you don’t personally know the couple,” she added.
One such example is Jennifer (48) and Paulo (50), who sold five tickets for their wedding. Alongside 95 family members, five strangers will also attend their ceremony, making the day both personal and innovative.
The startup ensures safety by verifying every buyer before sending an official invitation card, making the process legitimate and trustworthy. With wedding expenses continuously rising, Inviteen may well be the beginning of a global trend where marriages become not just emotional celebrations but also smart financial opportunities.
