Peshawar attack: 3 FC personnel killed in terrorist assault, attacker shot dead

Peshawar (The Uttam Hindu): Pakistan was shaken by the sound of explosions early in the morning. The paramilitary force headquarters in Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, has been attacked. Pakistani media Dawn has confirmed this. Firing was also witnessed after the blast. According to Pakistani media, the attack took place at 8 am on Saddar-Kohat Road. The attackers first carried out a suicide attack at the gate of the FC headquarters. After this blast, the attackers tried to enter the building but were killed. In this incident, 3 FC soldiers were killed, while 2 others were injured.

Peshawar Capital City Police Officer Dr. Mian Saeed Ahmed said, "The FC headquarters has been attacked. We are responding and the area has been cordoned off." Pakistani media quoted security sources as saying that the suicide bomber blew himself up at the FC headquarters gate. They said that sounds of firing were also heard after the blast. The civilian paramilitary force was renamed Frontier Constabulary by the government in July. The force's headquarters is located in a crowded area, near a military cantonment.


According to Dawn, Pakistan has seen an increase in terrorist activities, particularly in KP and Balochistan. Earlier in November, a suicide attack outside a court in Islamabad killed 12 people and injured at least 27. Around 12 people were killed and 27 injured in a suicide attack outside the District and Sessions Court building in Islamabad's G-11 area.


Home Minister Mohsin Naqvi told the media outside the court that a "suicide blast" had occurred at 12:39 p.m. He said 12 people were killed and approximately 27 injured. The injured are being treated, and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif is personally speaking to the hospital. Earlier, both Defense Minister Khawaja Asif and President Asif Ali Zardari had described the incident as a "suicide blast."


Meanwhile, Defense Minister Asif also called the incident a "wake-up call." He said, "We are in a state of war. For anyone who thinks the Pakistani army is fighting this war in the Afghan-Pakistan border region and remote areas of Balochistan, I would like to tell them that today's suicide attack on the Islamabad district courts is a wake-up call." Earlier in September, an attack occurred on the APC headquarters in Bannu district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Six Pakistani soldiers were killed and five militants were killed during the operation.
