"Relations between the Two Countries can Never Improve", says US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Following the recent meeting between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping, US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth also met with Chinese Defense Minister Admiral Dong Jin in Malaysia. The two leaders discussed strengthening bilateral ties. However, after the meeting, Hegseth stated that relations between the US and China may never improve.
After meeting with the Chinese Defense Minister, Pete Hegseth posted on the social media platform X, stating that he had also spoken with President Trump. He wrote, "I just spoke with President Trump, and we both believe that the relationship between the United States and China will never be better."
Hegseth continued, "Following the historic meeting between President Trump and Xi Jinping in South Korea, I also had a wonderful meeting with Chinese Defense Minister Admiral Dong Jin in Malaysia. We spoke again last night. Both countries support peace, stability, and good relations, and this is the best path for strong nations."
He also said that President Trump's 'G-2 meeting' will ensure a path of long-term peace and success for the US and China.
It's worth noting that Trump and Xi Jinping met earlier on Sunday. At that time, Trump said, "My G-2 meeting with President Xi Jinping will be historic and will ensure long-term peace for both countries."
