Moscow (The Uttam Hindu): Russia said that in the past 24 hours its air defense systems shot down 4 guided aerial bombs and 160 drones of Ukraine. According to the agency, the Russian Defense Ministry said that its air defense systems intercepted 33 Ukrainian drones in the western border areas of the country.
The ministry said 13 Ukrainian drones were shot down between 9:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. (Moscow time), of which 12 were in the Bryansk region and one in the Kaluga region. This was followed by 20 more drones destroyed over the next two hours, including eight in Bryansk, seven in Smolensk, three in Kursk and two in Kaluga. In early August, Russia accused Ukraine of escalating attacks ahead of a meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Alaska.
The Russian Foreign Ministry issued a statement on the social media platform 'X' saying that 22 people have been killed and 105 injured in Russia due to Ukrainian shelling and drone attacks in the past week. The ministry also shared a map marking the attacked areas in Russian territory.
Russian Foreign Ministry Deputy Spokesman Alexei Fadeev said, "With the Russia-US summit approaching, the Kiev regime has increased its terrorist activities against Russian territories. Over the past week, 127 Russian citizens became victims of shelling and drone attacks. 22 died and 105 were injured."
Let us tell you that to end the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Russian Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump held a summit in Alaska. After this, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met Trump along with European leaders in Washington. However, these meetings did not yield any concrete results regarding ceasefire. Trump has talked about a trilateral meeting with Putin and Zelensky.
