Putin: Russia's Nuclear Subs 'Undetectable' by Foreign Radars in Arctic
Moscow (The Uttam Hindu): If there is any country in the news most in international politics right now because of its aggressive attitude, then it is Russia. America and Europe have been trying to stop Russia's war with Ukraine for a long time, but Russia has laid down its conditions for this. Russia is also famous for its accurate weapons. Amidst the efforts for ceasefire with Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that his nuclear submarines are safe from foreign radars.
Vladimir Putin said on Friday that Russian nuclear submarines can move under the Arctic ice without being detected by any foreign radar. This makes us more powerful than others. In a meeting with nuclear sector workers in Sarov, Moscow, Putin claimed that the Arctic region is very important for Russia's security. Emphasizing the need for research in this area, Putin said that Arctic research is very important because shipping routes are becoming more accessible due to melting ice. Many countries are interested in using these routes.
Encouraging his workers, he claimed that given the current situation, we are in a position to benefit from it. Russia is currently the only country to operate a nuclear-powered icebreaker fleet. Since the 2000s, Russia has built eight Borei-class nuclear submarines, the most recent of which, Knyaz Pozharsky, was launched last year, while two more are under construction. Putin said last month that the submarines are equipped with ballistic missiles with a range of up to 8,000 km (4,970 miles). Many countries, including Russia and the United States, have highlighted the importance of the Arctic for security and global trade in recent years.
