Moscow/Kyiv (The Uttam Hindu): The ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine has reached its most dangerous turning point. Russia has launched a devastating and horrific attack on Ukraine, shattering all hopes for peace. Using its most powerful hypersonic missile, the Oreshnik, the Russian military targeted Ukrainian positions near the Polish border. This attack has raised concerns not only in Ukraine but throughout the Western world and NATO countries.

10 times faster than sound and can reach Europe

The "Orshenik" missile used by Russia is considered one of the world's deadliest weapons. According to defense experts, this hypersonic missile is capable of traveling 10 times faster than the speed of sound, making it nearly impossible to intercept by any existing air defense system. Its range is said to exceed 5,000 kilometers, which means Russia can now target all of Europe from its bases. By using this missile, Russia has sent a powerful message of its military might.

Heavy destruction in Kyiv and Lviv, power and water cut off

In this devastating attack, Russia has rained missiles on Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, and the western city of Lviv. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko has confirmed that the attacks have completely cut off power and water supply to large parts of the capital. At least three people have been killed and 16 others injured in the attacks so far. Meanwhile, according to reports, the Russian army has captured another important Ukrainian city, which is considered a major strategic advance.

Russia is using the harsh winter as a weapon

This attack comes at a time when Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had already warned his countrymen of a potential major attack. He released a video message stating that Russia is trying to take advantage of the severe cold and snowfall to break the morale of Ukrainian citizens. Currently, heavy snowfall is falling in Kyiv, making roads slippery. The failure of electricity and heating systems amid the extreme cold is nothing less than a punishment for the general public. Zelensky has appealed to people to stay in safe places.
