Son’s post fuels controversy amid rumors of Imran Khan’s death: ‘Show proof he’s alive’
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Rumors of the death of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, who is imprisoned in Pakistan, caused a stir on Thursday. Meanwhile, the prison administration completely dismissed these reports, stating that Imran Khan is healthy and such rumors are baseless.
Meanwhile, Imran Khan's sisters have alleged that they have been denied access to their brother for the past 23 days. Imran's son, Qasim Khan, has demanded the release of proof of his life and his father's immediate release. Qasim claimed that his father has been held in a death cell for a month and a half without any contact with his family.
Qasim wrote on the social media platform X that it has been more than 845 days since Imran Khan was arrested. “For the past six weeks, he has been kept in complete isolation in a death cell. Despite clear court orders, his sisters have not been allowed to visit him. No phone calls, no meetings… We have no news of him,” Qasim said.
Qasim also questioned who would be responsible for his father's safety. He asked whether the Pakistani government and its institutions would take legal and international responsibility for Imran Khan's safety and for all consequences of his inhumane detention.
He also appealed to the international community and human rights organizations to intervene. In his post, Qasim demanded the confirmation of Imran Khan's life, access to his family under court orders, and the abolition of solitary confinement.
