Tejas Crash at Dubai Air Show 2025: Defence Expert Explains the Possible Reason
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): A major tragedy took place on Friday during the Dubai Air Show 2025 when an Indian Air Force Tejas fighter aircraft crashed during an aerial display. The pilot, Wing Commander Naman Syal, lost his life in the accident. The crash happened in front of spectators, creating panic at the venue.
Defence expert Captain Anil Gaur (Retd.) said that based on initial visuals, it appears the aircraft may have lost control during an acrobatic manoeuvre. He also suggested the possibility that the pilot experienced a blackout due to high G-force. However, he clarified that the exact cause will only be known after analysing cockpit data and completing the technical investigation.
Captain Gaur explained that pilots wear G-suits to prevent blood from pooling in the lower body during intense gravitational force. If the suit malfunctions, it can result in a blackout. The Indian Air Force confirmed the crash through a post on X, stating that the Tejas aircraft went down during its display and the pilot could not survive. The IAF expressed deep condolences to the family of the martyred pilot.
The IAF has announced a Court of Inquiry to determine the cause of the accident. According to local media reports in Dubai, the aircraft suddenly plunged towards the ground in front of a large crowd and burst into flames.
