New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): A shooting took place at around 2.30 pm on Wednesday afternoon, a short distance from the residence of Donald Trump, the President of the world's most powerful country. At least three people are reported to be injured in this incident near the White House, including two National Guard soldiers. US President Donald Trump has termed this shooting as a terrorist attack. After the attack on the West Virginia National Guard in Washington, he has ordered the deployment of 500 additional National Guard soldiers in the city.

Trump said that everyone who entered the US from Afghanistan during former President Joe Biden's tenure would be re-verified. He claimed that DHS suspects the shooter entered the US from Afghanistan in 2021.

According to the Metropolitan Police, National Guard troops patrolling near the White House were attacked. Immediately after the incident, the area was cordoned off and heavy security forces were deployed. Guard members responded and apprehended the suspect. The suspect has been identified as 29-year-old Rahmanullah Lakanwal, an Afghan national. Following the attack, the US administration has taken a major step and temporarily halted all immigration requests from Afghan nationals.
