“This time the target will not miss”: Iran issues threat to Trump by sharing attack image
Tehran (The Uttam Hindu): The situation in Iran has become increasingly tense amid fears of possible military action by the United States. In this backdrop, Iran has issued a warning to former US President Donald Trump by circulating a provocative image linked to an earlier attack on him.
Amid rising tensions, the United Kingdom has temporarily shut its embassy in Tehran and recalled all its diplomatic staff. The UK Foreign Office stated that the British Embassy in Tehran has been closed for a limited period and will now operate remotely.
Iran reportedly shared an image related to the 2024 assassination attempt on Donald Trump in Pennsylvania, showing an attempt to target him during a campaign rally. Along with the image, a warning message was displayed stating, “This time the target will not miss.”
The message, translated from Persian, spread rapidly online through multiple media reports and was also broadcast on Iranian state television. This broadcast came after repeated warnings issued by Trump. In a post on Truth Social, Trump had earlier warned Iran, saying that if peaceful protesters were killed, the United States would step in to help and was prepared to take further action.
The image used by Iranian media was from the July 2024 incident in Butler, Pennsylvania, where a gunman named Thomas Crooks opened fire during Trump’s campaign rally. One of the bullets grazed Trump’s ear, narrowly missing him. The incident had shocked the United States at the time.
In recent days, diplomatic relations between Iran and several European countries have further deteriorated. Following warnings of possible US military action, Iran has temporarily closed its airspace. Despite the escalating tension, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said in an interview that Iran remains open to dialogue and has maintained this position for the past two decades. He emphasized that diplomacy is far better than war and urged Washington to choose talks over military action.
