Trump Again Offers to Mediate Between India and Pakistan, Cites Role in Ending '5 Global Conflicts'
Washington(The Uttam Hindu): Former U.S. President Donald Trump has once again reiterated his claim of offering to mediate between India and Pakistan over the ceasefire issue. In a recent social media post on his platform Truth Social, Trump criticized radio host and author Charlamagne tha God, stating the author knows “nothing” about his global contributions, including helping to end “five wars.”
Trump claimed he had helped resolve conflicts in various parts of the world during his presidency, including the 31-year-long bloody dispute between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda, which reportedly claimed around 7 million lives. He also claimed credit for mediating between India and Pakistan, dismantling Iran’s nuclear ambitions, securing borders, and creating what he called “the greatest economy in history.”
The remarks came shortly after White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that President Trump’s contributions in resolving global conflicts should earn him the Nobel Peace Prize. She listed his mediation efforts between countries such as Thailand and Cambodia, Israel and Iran, Rwanda and Congo, India and Pakistan, Serbia and Kosovo, and Egypt and Ethiopia. According to her, Trump averaged one peace deal or ceasefire every month during his first six months in office.
However, the Indian government has consistently rejected any suggestion of third-party mediation in its disputes with Pakistan. Just last week, during a Rajya Sabha debate on Operation Sindoor, Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar confirmed that there had been no conversation between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Donald Trump from April 22 to June 16. He emphasized that any dialogue with Pakistan must be bilateral and formal, preferably through military or diplomatic channels. India, he reiterated, will not accept external interference in its internal or bilateral matters.
