New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): In a dramatic announcement from Washington on Thursday, former U.S. President Donald Trump declared that the United States has entered a strategic agreement with Pakistan to jointly develop massive oil reserves. Adding fuel to the fire, Trump hinted that this oil might one day be exported to India—just a day after slapping a 25% tariff on Indian exports.

Speaking on his social media platform "Truth", Trump stated, “We’ve struck a deal with Pakistan to jointly develop their vast oil reserves. We are in the process of selecting a leading oil company to spearhead the partnership. Who knows, maybe one day this oil will be sold to India.”

This move comes amid rising tensions between the U.S. and India over New Delhi’s continued energy and defense dealings with Russia. Trump warned of stronger economic measures if India doesn't revise its ties with Moscow.

In the same post, Trump revealed he’s in talks with several world leaders to negotiate trade deals and hinted at potential tariff reductions for countries "eager to keep America happy". He also referenced an upcoming meeting with South Korean officials, where a 25% tariff proposal is on the table.

Trump emphasized that these agreements are part of a larger strategy to cut down America’s trade deficit. Responding to questions about India’s role in the BRICS alliance, Trump expressed deep dissatisfaction, labeling BRICS as "an anti-America coalition" that threatens the dominance of the U.S. dollar.

He warned, “This is a direct attack on the dollar. And we won’t allow it. This is partly about BRICS and partly about trade. India needs to decide where it stands.” The former president concluded by suggesting that ongoing negotiations with India could reach a turning point by the end of the week.
