President Trump's helicopter suffers technical snag while returning from Britain, forces emergency landing: President Trump was being transported from Chequers, UK to London's Stansted Airport from where he was to return to Washington via Air Force One. En route, his helicopter experienced a hydraulic system malfunction forcing the pilot to make an emergency landing near Luton Airport.
The White House confirmed that the helicopter malfunction was minor and that the action was taken for security reasons. Trump and Melania were later taken to Stansted Airport in a backup helicopter from where they departed for the United States.
Shortly after the incident, President Trump concluded his visit to Britain. He said he was deeply grateful for the grand welcome and gracious hospitality he received. Trump made the remarks at a joint press conference with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer at Chequers.
The two leaders signed a landmark agreement in the field of science and technology, which was widely appreciated by both sides. A roundtable with global business leaders expressed hope that this agreement would significantly increase employment opportunities.
The bilateral talks at Chequers also discussed issues such as the ongoing wars in Ukraine and Gaza, global security, and tariffs on US steel imported from Britain. President Trump said, "The relationship between our countries is like no other in the world. The United States and Britain have done more good for the planet than any other nation in history." Prime Minister Stormer said, "British and American men and women, shoulder to shoulder are changing the course of history and turning it towards our values: freedom, democracy and the rule of law."
