Washington (The Uttam Hindu): America's President, Donald Trump has warned the world that soon 25% tarrif will be applied to the smartphones made out of the country. This proposed policy will cover devices from Samsung and other foreign companies along with Apple's iPhone.

Trump clarified that if these smartphones are manufactured in America, then there will be no tariff on them. He said, "This policy will not be limited to Apple only, but it will be comprehensive. Samsung and other companies will also come under its purview. When they manufacture in America, they will be exempted from tariffs. Otherwise it will not be fair."

Trump has already spoken to Tim Cook

In a social media post, Trump said that he had already informed Apple CEO Tim Cook about his expectations. He said, "I told Tim Cook a long time ago that I expect iPhones sold in the US to be made in the US, not in India or any other country. If this does not happen, Apple will have to pay at least a 25% tariff."

Apple will continue to invest in India

Trump's remarks came after a recent meeting with Tim Cook. According to a White House official, Trump is unhappy with Apple's plan to shift iPhone production from China to India. Trump said, "Tim said they are going to set up a plant in India. I clearly said it's okay to go to India, but if you want to sell in the US without tariffs, then manufacture here."
