UAE issues strong warning to Iran after attacks on Dubai and Abu Dhabi, urges Tehran to act responsibly
Abu Dhabi (The Uttam Hindu): Amid rising tensions in the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates has sent a strong message to Iran, urging it to act responsibly toward neighbouring countries and avoid further escalation.
Senior diplomatic adviser to the UAE President, Anwar Gargash, said Iran’s attack against Gulf states failed to achieve its objective and has only deepened its isolation at a sensitive time.
In a post on X, he stated that the conflict is not with neighbouring nations and warned that growing aggression reinforces the perception of Iran as a destabilising force in the region. The UAE also claimed that its air defence systems successfully intercepted missiles and drones launched toward its territory.
According to the UAE Ministry of Defence, a total of 137 ballistic missiles and 209 drones were fired toward the UAE since the start of the attack. Of these, 132 missiles were destroyed and five fell into the sea. Out of 209 drones, 195 were intercepted, while 14 landed in different areas and waters of the country, causing minor damage.
The Dubai Government Media Office reported that debris from intercepted drones fell into the courtyards of two homes in Dubai, injuring two people who received medical treatment.
Authorities clarified that loud sounds heard across the Emirates were due to interception operations. The defence ministry described the attack as a clear violation of national sovereignty and international law, calling it a dangerous provocation that threatens regional stability and public safety.
Officials urged citizens to rely only on official sources for information and avoid rumours, adding that security agencies remain on high alert and fully prepared to handle any threats.
