London (The Uttam Hindu): These days a heated and sensitive debate has erupted in Britain about criminals of Pakistani origin and the so-called 'rape gangs'. A report released by independent MP Rupert Lowe from Great Yarmouth has caused a stir in the country, which claims that gangs of Pakistani rapists are active in 85 areas across the country who have been preying on innocent girls for decades. After the release of this report, the MP has demanded the government to expel all Pakistani criminals from the country and ban the issuance of visas to Pakistan.

MP Rupert Lowe has long been campaigning against Pakistani immigrants. On Monday, he further articulated his demands in a post on the social media platform 'X'. He wrote, "If the government is serious about deportation threats, start with Pakistan. Don't issue a single visa to Pakistan until they accept back the deported rapists/criminals. Also, stop every penny of foreign aid sent to Pakistan. It's not too difficult."

This report and demands have also received support from the world's richest man, Elon Musk. Musk had targeted Britain's immigration policies while supporting Lowe's investigation.

Rupert Lowe's statement has come at a time when a few days ago, Pakistani-origin Muslim MP Shabana Mahmood has been appointed as the new Home Minister of Britain. Interestingly, Shabana Mahmood herself had recently announced that she would take strict measures like visa suspension against those countries that refuse to take back their 'illegal and criminal' citizens. Now MP Lowe is pressing for action against Pakistan by citing her statement.

Apart from the issue of criminals, MP Lowe has also demanded a complete ban on halal meat in Britain. Calling it a “national scandal”, he said, “We are getting reports that only halal meat is being served in public areas, even military departments. Do parents know that their children are being fed halal meat? We do not live in a Muslim country. We must ban halal slaughter.”

This entire controversy is related to the sensitive issue of immigration in Britain. Especially the increasing number of migrants crossing the English Channel through small boats has increased the concern of the government. According to an estimate, more than 30,000 people have reached Britain through this route since the beginning of 2025. Pakistan is among the countries that often delay the process of returning its criminal and illegal citizens, which has made this issue even more complicated.
