United Nations (The Uttam Hindu): Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has reportedly died following a series of attacks carried out by Israel on Iranian cities and military installations. The strikes targeted military bases, airfields and key government facilities, and reports indicate that operations have continued beyond the initial wave of attacks.

During a meeting of the United Nations Security Council, US Ambassador Mike Waltz made strong allegations against Iran, claiming that the Iranian government had attempted to assassinate US President Donald Trump both directly and through proxy groups. He stated that Iran had long promoted hostility toward the United States and Israel and accused Tehran of actions that threaten stability in the Middle East and violate international norms.

Waltz further said that Iran tried to hide its actions while presenting itself as a victim, and warned that Tehran’s policies pose risks to American forces, bases, allies and partners worldwide. The United States also defended the joint US-Israeli military action, describing it as a lawful step taken under Article 51 of the UN Charter for self-defence and the protection of its allies. He added that some Iranians were reportedly welcoming the developments, viewing them as a sign of possible change.
