US launches air strike on ISIS targets in Syria, issues stark warning in video message
Washington (The Uttam Hindu): The US carried out heavy airstrikes on Islamic State (ISIS) targets in Syria on Saturday night. This action is being seen as revenge for the deaths of three American citizens. The US State Department and Central Command have presented the entire picture to the world by releasing a video of this 'surgical strike'. This action is part of "Operation Hawkeye Strike", which was launched on the orders of President Donald Trump to avenge the deadly attack on American soldiers last month.
Fighter jets destroyed terrorist hideouts
Video footage shared by Central Command on social media shows US fighter jets taking off from bases and carrying out precision strikes against terrorist targets in various parts of Syria. The released video clearly shows how the US Air Force targeted several terrorist targets, reducing them to rubble in no time.
Response to the December 13 attack
The US military has clarified that these latest attacks are a direct response to the attack in Palmyra on December 13, 2025, in which an ISIS terrorist launched an ambush. Two brave Iowa National Guard soldiers, 25-year-old Edgar Brian Torres-Tovar and 29-year-old William Nathaniel Howard, were martyred in this tragic incident. An American civilian interpreter also lost his life in the attack. Significantly, this was the first fatal attack on US forces in Syria since the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime in December 2024.
'We will find you anywhere in the world'
In a statement released alongside the video, the Central Command issued a stern warning to terrorists. The Army stated unequivocally that its message is strong and clear. "If anyone harms their warriors, they will hunt them down and eliminate them, wherever they are in the world," the Army said. "No matter how hard terrorists try to escape justice, they will not succeed."
Jordanian forces also participated in the operation.
The operation began on December 19, 2025, with the first phase destroying approximately 70 targets in central Syria. Jordanian forces are actively involved in this special operation alongside the US. Just a day before Saturday's airstrikes, Syrian security forces claimed to have arrested the chief military commander of ISIS in the Levant region.
The US military has been present in Iraq and Syria since ISIS took control of large parts of the country in the mid-2010s. Hundreds of US troops are currently deployed in Syria, primarily to root out Islamic terrorism and prevent future attacks.
