Nobel Twist: Trump Gets Surprise From Pakistan, Gets Nominated for Nobel Prize Over Peace Efforts
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The government of Pakistan has put forward the name of US President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2026. Pakistan says that Trump's diplomatic initiative and mediation during the India-Pak conflict helped avert a major war.
The Pakistan government said in its official statement that Trump played an important role in the ceasefire by talking to both New Delhi and Islamabad. This averted the possibility of war between two nuclear powers.
Closed door meeting with Asim Munir
Along with this, Pakistan also appreciated Donald Trump's offer of mediation on the Kashmir issue and said that unless the Kashmir issue is resolved, there can be no lasting peace in the region.
Earlier on Wednesday, Trump had a closed-door meeting with Pakistan's Army Chief General Asim Munir at the White House. After this, both of them had lunch together in the Cabinet Room of the White House.
