We can easily reopen the strait of hormuz soon, says Donald trump amid war
Donald Trump says the US can reopen the Strait of Hormuz soon amid rising tensions with Iran, raising concerns over global oil supply and regional security.
Washington/Tehran (The Uttam Hindu): Donald Trump has made a major statement regarding the strategically crucial Strait of Hormuz, signaling a possible escalation in tensions in West Asia.
In a post on the social media platform Truth, Trump said, “After some more time, we can easily open the Strait of Hormuz, take oil, and make good money.” His remarks come as the ongoing conflict between the US-Israel alliance and Iran enters its second month. While the Trump administration has repeatedly claimed that the war may end soon, the situation on the ground remains tense.
Experts believe that the Strait of Hormuz is the backbone of global energy supply, with nearly 20 percent of the world’s oil passing through it. Any military or political movement in this region can directly impact international oil markets. Analysts view Trump’s statement as a strategy to increase pressure on Iran.
Iran issues strong warning, signals retaliation
Meanwhile, Iran has responded sharply, taking a firm stance. A spokesperson for the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters warned that if the country’s bridges, power plants, or energy infrastructure are targeted, there will be a far more destructive response against the US, Israel, and their allied bases.
The spokesperson also cautioned countries hosting US military bases to reconsider their security and think about removing American forces from their territory.
Iran has made it clear that it is prepared to go to any extent to defend its strategic and energy assets. In the current scenario, Trump’s statement could not only impact regional security but also trigger a sharp surge in global oil prices. Experts warn that any major conflict in the Strait of Hormuz could have widespread consequences for the global economy.
