Zelensky Meets Trump, Declares: ‘America Stands with Ukraine’
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, accompanied by his wife, met with US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump. Following the meeting, Zelensky expressed his gratitude and emotions on social media platform X, emphasizing that America firmly stands with Ukraine in its ongoing battle.
Sharing a picture from the meeting, Zelensky wrote: “America stands with Ukraine – and we feel it. We are grateful to the people of the United States, President Donald Trump, and First Lady Melania Trump for their concern for Ukrainians, our children, and our people. Standing together means lives will be saved, and we will feel safer and more secure.”
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, where world leaders gathered to discuss peace, security, and global conflicts. Zelensky also addressed the UNGA, while continuing to post regular updates on X.
Highlighting the packed diplomatic schedule, Zelensky noted that his team participated in over 30 events, including meaningful discussions with President Trump, a meeting between the First Ladies of Ukraine and the US, peace talks with various world leaders, strengthening ongoing cooperation, and building new partnerships. He also mentioned his participation in the International Crimean Platform Summit, which, for the first time, was held on the global stage with representatives from over 60 countries.
Zelensky extended heartfelt thanks to every Ukrainian supporting the cause, stating: “Thank you for supporting our children, our warriors, and our citizens. My gratitude goes to every man and woman standing at the frontlines, at military posts, and missions, fighting for Ukraine and our national interests. We will undoubtedly defend Ukraine.”
