10th Day of Ceasefire Breach: Pakistan Continues Cross-Border Firing on LoC

Jammu (The Uttam Hindu) Pakistani troops continued unprovoked firing with small arms in various sectors along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, drawing an effective response from the Indian Army. Ceasefire violations by Pakistan were reported from eight places spread across five districts of the Union Territory during the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday but there were no reports of any casualties, officials said.
This was the 10th consecutive night of unprovoked firing from across the border in Jammu and Kashmir amid heightened tensions after the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam that left 26 people, mostly tourists, dead. The defence spokesperson said that on the night of May 3 and 4, Pakistan Army posts resorted to unprovoked firing of small arms across the LoC in opposite areas of Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, Rajouri, Mendhar, Nowshera, Sunderbani and Akhnoor in Jammu and Kashmir. The Indian Army retaliated promptly.
Ceasefire violations along the LoC and International Border (IB) have reduced significantly since India and Pakistan renewed the ceasefire agreement on February 25, 2021. Taking precautionary measures, nervous border villagers have already started cleaning their community and individual bunkers to make them habitable.
