Beijing (The Uttam Hindu): A mattress manufacturing company in China organized a unique competition to promote itself, which has created a stir on social media. In this 'lying down' competition, participants did not have to do any heavy work; instead, they simply had to lie on the mattress. This interesting competition, which sounds simple, has been won by a 23-year-old man. This man remained lying on the mattress continuously for 33 hours and 35 minutes and took the title of winner.

Competition inspired by 'Tang Ping' culture

According to reports from the South China Morning Post and Xiaoxiang Morning Herald, the competition was held on November 15th at a shopping center in Baotou, Inner Mongolia, northern China. The title and theme of the game were based on the popular Chinese term "Tang Ping," meaning "lying down." This term is very popular among young people in China, which reflects the mentality of "refusing hard work" or "doing the bare minimum" amid heavy social pressure and a difficult job environment. The company also broadcast the entire event live, which was watched by millions of viewers.

The contestants arrived wearing diapers

The rules of the competition were very strict. The condition was that whoever would lie down for the longest time without sitting, leaving the mattress or going to the toilet would be the winner. The contestants were only allowed to change sides, read books, use mobile phones and eat food while lying on their stomachs. Going to the toilet was prohibited, so most of the participants wore diapers. Around 240 people took part in it, but due to the strict rules, 186 people were eliminated on the first day itself. Some people also left the game due to the craving for smoking.

Took part on girlfriend's insistence, won 37 thousand

After about 33 hours and 9 minutes, when only three people were left, the organizers increased the level of difficulty and asked them to raise their hands and legs in the air. In this final challenge, a 23-year-old youth lasted the longest and became the winner. The winner got 3,000 Yuan (about 37,000 rupees) as a prize. The youth told that his girlfriend had asked him to participate by sending him the link. In the middle, he had thought of giving up, but due to the encouragement of his girlfriend, he remained steadfast. Now, with the winning amount, he will treat his friends to 'hotpot dinner'. Whereas, the one who came second was given a prize of 2,000 Yuan and the one who came third was given a prize of 1,000 Yuan.
