5 Dead After Government Bus and Tempo Van Collide in a Devastating Crash

Sengippatti(The Uttam Hindu): In a tragic road accident near Sengippatti Bridge on the Thanjavur–Tiruchirappalli National Highway, a government bus collided head-on with a private tempo van, resulting in the death of five people. The incident was confirmed by District Collector Priyanka Balasubramanian.
Earlier, on May 20, another heartbreaking incident occurred in Sivaganga district where five workers lost their lives in a rockslide at a stone quarry named Mega Blue Metal near Malkottai in SS Kottai. One of the laborers was critically injured in the landslide, raising serious questions about worker safety.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin expressed deep sorrow over both incidents. In an official statement, the Chief Minister's Office announced that CM Stalin has approved a compensation of ₹4 lakh each to the families of the deceased and ₹1 lakh each to the injured from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund. He also directed officials to ensure the best possible medical treatment for the injured.
