Udaipur (The Uttam Hindu): Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde made a big statement about history in a seminar organized on the occasion of Maharana Pratap Jayanti in Udaipur. He said that the early history of India was written by foreigners, which contains many wrong facts. Citing Akbarnama, the Governor also said that Akbar has not mentioned anything about his marriage in it.

Governor Bagde also termed the marriage of Amer princess Jodha Bai and Akbar as false. He said that Raja Bharmal had arranged Akbar's marriage with the daughter of a maid, not with a princess. However, he clarified that he had heard this information and had not read it himself.

In the program, he further said that there is no mention of marriage with Jodha in Akbar's autobiography nor is there any evidence of Maharana Pratap writing a treaty to Akbar. He also expressed concern over Maharana Pratap being given less importance than Akbar in history books. The Governor said that Maharana Pratap never compromised with his self-respect. He also said that through the new National Education Policy, efforts are now being made to present history in a balanced manner, so that the new generation can become familiar with its glorious past.

At Pratap Gaurav Kendra, the Governor also gained information related to the life of Maharana Pratap. He said that if Maharana Pratap and Chhatrapati Shivaji were alive at the same time, the history of India would have been different. Apart from this, the Governor praised the patriotism of the villagers living on the Indo-Pak border and called them the symbol of real India.
