Amarnath Yatra to Last 38 Days This Year – Full Schedule Announced!

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu) : The annual Amarnath Yatra will be conducted over a 38-day period this year, from July 3 to August 9, 2025. This is a shorter duration compared to last year’s 52-day yatra. The pilgrimage will conclude on Raksha Bandhan, coinciding with the ceremonial event of ‘Chhari Mubarak’. In light of recent security concerns, especially the past terrorist attack in Pahalgam, the government has prepared a comprehensive security plan. A total of 581 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) will be deployed to ensure the safety of pilgrims throughout the journey.
Multi-Layered Security Arrangements
Security personnel from CRPF, Jammu & Kashmir Police, the Indian Army, and other CAPFs like the BSF, ITBP, SSB, and CISF will be strategically stationed along the two traditional routes – Pahalgam and Baltal. The entire yatra route has undergone digital mapping and security audits, and a multi-layered security protocol is being implemented. Key measures include: Road Opening Parties (ROPs) to secure routes ahead of movement. Quick Action Teams (QATs) for rapid response to any threat.
Deployment of bomb disposal squads to neutralize explosive threats. This year’s heightened security aims to ensure a safe and spiritually fulfilling experience for thousands of devotees journeying to the sacred Amarnath Cave Shrine, dedicated to Lord Shiva.
