Amritsar Shocked by Morning Explosion: One Dead, Police Suspect Scrap Bomb Mishandling

Amritsar(The Uttam Hindu): A powerful explosion occurred near the Majitha Road Bypass in Amritsar district around 9:30 AM today, resulting in the death of one person. The blast was so intense that both of the deceased’s hands were blown off above the wrists. Hearing the sound of the explosion, nearby residents rushed to the scene and immediately informed the police. Upon receiving the information, police arrived at the spot and began an investigation.

After a preliminary inquiry, the police have ruled out the involvement of any gangster or terrorist organization in the incident. The identity of the deceased has not yet been established.

Police suspect that the deceased may have been a scrap dealer and had brought an old bomb—possibly found in scrap—to dismantle. When he tried to break it open, it exploded, killing him on the spot. The police are also investigating what type of bomb it was.
