BCCI Faces Crucial Decision as Australian Players Express Hesitation for IPL 2025

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): A big controversy has arisen regarding IPL 2025. Preparations are being made to restart this league which was postponed due to India-Pakistan tension, but in the meantime there is doubt about the return of many foreign players. Especially many star players of Australia may not return to India for the remaining matches this time.
Doubt over the return of Australian players in IPL 2025, BCCI may take a big decision: According to sources, Cricket Australia wants to keep its players fit and available for the World Test Championship (WTC) final starting on June 11. In such a situation, players like Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins and Travis Head may withdraw from coming to India for the remaining matches of IPL 2025. Mitchell Starc's manager has even indicated that it is difficult for him to return to India.
This time BCCI is in a mood to take a tough stand against such players. The board has already implemented a new rule under which foreign players who leave the league midway without any solid reason, or refuse to return, can be banned from IPL for two years. The first victim of this rule has been England's Harry Brook, and now it is possible that some Australian players may also have to face it.
BCCI is currently considering resuming IPL 2025 from May 16. There are a total of 17 matches left in this season, including 13 group stage matches. But the absence of players can spoil BCCI's planning.
If the Australian players do not return for the remaining matches, it could be a big blow to both the credibility of the IPL and international participation. Now it remains to be seen whether the BCCI really takes a tough stand on these players by banning them for two years, or if some middle path will be found
