Bhiwani court complex shooting: 8 arrested in police encounter after history-sheeter's killing

Bhiwani (The Uttam Hindu): There was commotion in Haryana's Bhiwani court premises on Tuesday morning when indiscriminate firing started near the Tehsildar's office. This attack was carried out targeting a history-sheeter who had come for hearing. According to Bar Association President Sandeep Tanwar, the incident took place at around 11:45 am when three attackers suddenly started firing. On hearing the sound of gunfire, there was a stampede among the lawyers and litigants. After committing the crime, the attackers fled from the spot, but the police showed great promptness and surrounded the criminals within just an hour.
Encounter with police, two injured
Upon receiving information about the shooting, the police, under the direction of Superintendent of Police Sumit Kumar, immediately formed three to four teams and began chasing the criminals. Seeing the police approaching, the criminals opened fire on the team. In retaliation, the police apprehended eight criminals. In this encounter, the main accused, Ayush Boxer and Shripal, were shot in the leg, while two other criminals were also injured while trying to escape. The police recovered three weapons from them. All the arrested accused are residents of Bhiwani district, and the injured have been admitted to the hospital for treatment.
The result of old rivalry and gang war
Superintendent of Police Sumit Kumar stated in a press conference that the firing in the court premises was the result of a gang war. History-sheeter Binnu and Arvind had a long-standing rivalry over financial transactions. Arvind had appeared for his hearing on Tuesday, and Binnu had arrived to testify. Seizing the opportunity, Ayush Boxer, a member of Binnu's family, and his associates launched a deadly attack on Arvind, though Arvind narrowly escaped. Police initially rounded up 28 people based on suspicion, leading to the identification of the main accused.
Questions raised on security, firing has happened before also
This incident has once again exposed the security arrangements at the court premises. The Bar Association has called it extremely unfortunate. It's worth noting that a similar shooting occurred five months ago at the Bhiwani court, seriously injuring a young man named Lovejeet, a resident of Rohtak. Furthermore, just four days before Republic Day, the court received a bomb threat, prompting heightened security measures. Despite this, today's renewed shooting has cast doubt on the administration's claims.
