Bihar Elections: EC to Go Door-to-Door to Verify Voter List, Ensure Transparency

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The Election Commission of India has decided to conduct a door to door verification process to ensure the accuracy and transparency of the voter list ahead of Bihar assembly Election. Earlier, ECI was accused of helping the BJP and many ciil society organisations, political parties and others raised concerns about inclusion and deletion of names in the voter list. Despite following established protocols and procedures, the Commission has faced criticism for allegedly adding names to the voter list arbitrarily.

The door-to-door verification process aims to ensure that the voter list is error-free and accurate. By taking this step, the Election Commission seeks to conduct fair and transparent elections in Bihar. A similar exercise was conducted before the 2004 Lok Sabha elections.

The Commission's decision is expected to boost confidence in the electoral process and ensure that all eligible voters are included in the list while preventing any irregularities.
