Big Blow to Boeing! 3,200 Fighter Jet Workers on Strike, Production Halted

New York (The Uttam Hindu): The world's giant American aviation company Boeing is facing a major crisis. About 3,200 employees of the company's defense wing have started a strike. These employees manufacture many important military aircraft including the fighter aircraft F-35, due to which there is a possibility of an impact on production.
According to the information, this strike has taken place in Boeing plants located in St. Louis, St. Charles (Missouri) and Mascoutah (Illinois). The 'International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Union' (IAM), which represents the employees, said that the employees were not happy with the four-year labor agreement proposed by the company. Rejecting the proposals related to salary, working hours (work schedule) and pension, the employees decided to go on strike. The union said in a post, 3,200 high-skilled members of Boeing went on strike at midnight, because enough is enough.
At the same time, Boeing has also given its reaction to this move of the employees. According to Dan Gillian, Vice President of the company's Air Dominance Unit, the employees were offered an average 40 percent hike in salary, which unfortunately was rejected by the union. The company claims that this strike will not have any major impact.
It is worth noting that Boeing is facing challenges on many fronts these days, including issues related to the safety of aircraft and the recent plane accidents. Last year too, the company had to face a long strike, which lasted for about 8 weeks and caused huge financial losses to the company.
