After Delhi blast, bomb threat to Air India flight; alert issued for 5 airports

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu) – An Air India Express flight from Mumbai to Varanasi received a bomb threat. Following this, the plane made an emergency landing at Varanasi Airport. A high alert was immediately declared at Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport. The plane was immediately parked in an isolation bay, and all passengers were safely evacuated.
It is reported that there were a total of 176 passengers on board the plane, who have been safely evacuated. A bomb disposal team thoroughly checked the plane and passengers' luggage, and the situation is currently under control. Necessary security protocols have been implemented at airports.
An Air India Express spokesperson said the flight was flying from Mumbai to Varanasi on Wednesday when Varanasi Air Traffic Control (ATC) received a threatening email. The email mentioned plans to blow up several airports. Delhi Police said the email also mentioned a bomb at Delhi Airport.
The scene was immediately investigated. Following the email, security was tightened at airports in Delhi, Chennai, and Goa, and agencies were alerted. Delhi Police stated that precautionary checks were conducted at all locations following the information.
