New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): A BSF jawan, identified as PK Sahu, was detained by Pakistani Rangers on Wednesday after he inadvertently crossed the zero line while on duty in the Ferozepur sector of Punjab. The jawan, a member of the 24th Battalion of BSF, was part of a team deployed to monitor farmers in the area.

Family and Authorities Anxious for Jawan's Safe Return

Sahu's family, including his wife Rajni Sahu and seven-year-old son, are deeply concerned about his well-being. His brother, Shyamsunder Sahu, has appealed to the government and BSF authorities to intervene and ensure the jawan's safe return. Rajni Sahu expressed her anguish, saying, "I last spoke to him on Tuesday night. I just want him to come home soon."

Diplomatic Efforts Ongoing

BSF Director General Daljit Singh Chaudhary has spoken to Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan and efforts are being made to secure Sahu's release. Despite three flag meetings between BSF and Pakistani Rangers, no positive outcome has been reported yet. The delay in Sahu's release is attributed to the recent tensions between India and Pakistan following the Pahalgam terrorist attack.

Zero Line Incident

The zero line is a sensitive area along the India-Pakistan border where farmers are allowed to work under the supervision of BSF personnel. According to protocol, such incidents are usually resolved within 24 hours, but the recent tensions have complicated the situation. BSF officials are working to resolve the matter through diplomatic channels.

Family's Plea

Sahu's family is anxiously waiting for his return, and his wife is distraught after receiving news of his detention. The family hopes for a swift resolution and Sahu's safe return home
