Cloudburst in J&K’s Ramban: 3 Dead, Srinagar Highway Shut, Vehicles Buried

Srinagar (The Uttam Hindu): Continuous rain has wreaked havoc in Jammu and Kashmir . At least three people have died in a cloudburst incident in Seri Bagna area of Ramban district on Sunday morning. After the incident, there was a sudden flood in the village and heavy debris from the mountain reached the residential areas, due to which many houses and vehicles got trapped.

It is being told that some people may still be trapped in the debris, rescue operation is going on to evacuate them. Meanwhile, due to heavy rains in Banihal area of Ramban district, there have been incidents of landslides at many places. Due to this, Jammu-Srinagar National Highway has been completely closed. Hundreds of vehicles are stranded on the highway, due to which passengers are facing a lot of trouble. Also, Kishtwar-Paddar road has also been blocked due to landslide.
In the videos that surfaced on social media, debris can be seen falling from the mountain and burying vehicles. In one video, several tankers and other vehicles are seen completely buried under the debris. Some hotels and houses have also been badly affected. In view of the bad weather, the authorities have appealed to the people not to travel until the weather clears and to contact the administration in case of any emergency.
