Control on Pollution in Delhi: Only These Vehicles Will Get Entry, Know When The Rule will be Implemented

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced an ambitious plan to deal with the problem of increasing pollution in the national capital. Under the 'Air Pollution Mitigation Plan 2025', the government has taken many big decisions, the most important of which is to ban the entry of vehicles spreading pollution in Delhi.
The Delhi government has clarified that now only Bharat Stage-VI (BS-VI), CNG, and electric commercial cargo vehicles will be allowed to enter the capital. This new rule has been implemented with immediate effect. However, such vehicles already registered in Delhi will be exempted from this rule.
Private vehicles and auto rickshaws out of the ambit
Cars, bikes, auto rickshaws and other private passenger vehicles have been exempted from this ban. This means that if you live in the National Capital Region (NCR) and have a BS-IV standard private vehicle, you have nothing to worry about right now.
'End of Life' vehicles will be banned, will be identified through cameras.
A ban on 15-year-old petrol and 10-year-old diesel vehicles is already in place in Delhi-NCR. Now the government will identify these 'end of life' vehicles and strictly rein them in. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras will be installed on all the borders of Delhi. As soon as any banned vehicle comes in the range of these cameras, the system will immediately identify it and it will be stopped. Apart from this, such cameras will also start working at all petrol pumps from July 1, 2025, so that the supply of fuel to these vehicles can also be stopped. The government has already made it clear that fuel will no longer be given to 'end of life' vehicles.
Alert will be received on phone
The Chief Minister also said that the data of 'end of life' vehicles registered in Delhi and neighboring states will be available with the government. The Delhi government will send warnings to such vehicle owners through WhatsApp and SMS, informing them that their vehicle is now nearing the end of its life and it will not be allowed to enter Delhi. The implementation of this scheme is expected to get rid of the problem of air pollution in Delhi to a great extent.
