Coronavirus Claims Life in Chandigarh, Haryana Records 16 Active Cases; CM Nayab Saini to Chair Meeting

Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): Chandigarh has reported first death due to COVID-19. The cases are on the rise in Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. Rajkumar, 40, from Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh died at Government Medical College in sector 32, Chandigarh while he was being treated for breathing difficulties. He was referred from Ludhiana.

Meanwhile, Haryana has reported 16 COVID-19 cases, with 13 active cases. Three new cases were detected on Tuesday, with one in Faridabad and two in Gurugram. In response to the rising cases, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has convened a meeting with the Health Department to discuss the situation.

The Haryana government has issued an advisory, mandating hospitals to have flu corners, beds, isolation beds, oxygen, antibiotics and other essential medications. Additionally, personal protective equipment (PPE), N-95 masks, and testing kits must be available.

In a related development, a youth from Ambala was found COVID-19 positive after visiting his father in Firozpur, Punjab. He had undergone testing after experiencing symptoms.
