Delhi Blaze: Fire Erupts During E-Rickshaw Charging in Shahdara, 6 Hospitalized Including 2 Children

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu) : — Panic spread in Delhi’s Shahdara area after a fire broke out on the ground floor of a residential building on Sunday. The incident, which occurred while e-rickshaws were being charged inside the building, led to six people, including two children, experiencing severe breathing difficulties due to smoke inhalation. All affected individuals were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital and later referred to GTB Hospital for further treatment. Among the injured is a 30-year-old man identified as Sunny, who suffered burn injuries and is currently undergoing medical care.
Authorities suspect that a short circuit during the e-rickshaw charging process may have triggered the fire. Prompt response from local police and fire brigade teams helped bring the flames under control after a strenuous effort. The incident raises renewed concerns over the safety of indoor electric vehicle charging in densely populated residential areas. An investigation is underway to determine the exact cause and assess damage.
