New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The Delhi government is set to issue Ayushman Vaya Vandana cards to senior citizens aged 70 years and above, providing them with free medical treatment worth Rs. 10 lakhs. The scheme, which will be launched on April 28, aims to provide relief to the elderly citizens of Delhi.

Benefits of the Scheme

Under this scheme, senior citizens will be able to get free treatment for various diseases, including asthma, blood pressure, kidney problems, heart disease and cataract. The treatment will be provided in hospitals registered with Ayushman Bharat PMJAY. The scheme will provide:

Rs. 5 lakhs worth of treatment under Ayushman Bharat PMJAY

Additional health insurance of Rs. 5 lakhs by the Delhi government

Registration Process

The registration for the scheme will start on April 28 at Thyagaraj Stadium, where Ayushman Vay Vandana cards will be distributed to senior citizens. The registration can also be done at district offices, and public representatives can also facilitate the registration process. Aadhaar card is mandatory for registration.

Unique Health Card

The Ayushman Vaya Vandana card will serve as a unique health card, storing the complete health record of each registered senior citizen, including information related to regular health checkups and emergency services.

Coverage

The scheme will cover approximately six lakh senior citizens aged 70 years and above in Delhi, providing them with much-needed relief from medical expenses.
