New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Indian security agencies have foiled a major terror plot planned by Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI targeting Delhi and the NCR. After a three-month covert operation, Delhi Police’s Special Cell arrested two spies — one a Pakistani national of Nepali origin, and the other an Indian. This operation averted a significant threat to national security.

In January, intelligence agencies received information about an ISI plan to send a Pakistani spy into India via Nepal. Based on this, a covert operation was conducted from January to March. On February 15, the Special Cell arrested Pakistani spy Ansarul Miyan Ansari from Central Delhi as he tried to return to Pakistan through Nepal. Sensitive documents related to the Indian Army were recovered from him.

Investigations revealed that Ansarul, though of Nepali origin, had been working as a taxi driver in Qatar since 2008. There, he came into contact with ISI. In June 2024, he reached Rawalpindi and met his handler to plan espionage and attacks in India. He was tasked with gathering intelligence on the Indian Army.

In March, his associate Akhlaq Azam from Ranchi was also arrested. Both spies were in constant contact with their Pakistani handler. A chargesheet has now been filed. This successful operation highlights the vigilance and coordination of Indian security agencies and sends a strong message about India's internal security strength.
