New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Amid heightened tensions between the two countries after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, the official X account of the Pakistan government in India has been suspended. This step has been taken after suspending the Indus Water Treaty and expelling senior Pakistani diplomatic staff.

Pahalgam terrorist attack: India takes another action against Pakistan, suspends X account: The decision comes a day after the Cabinet Committee on Security, chaired by PM Modi, met to determine India's response to the April 23 attack in Pahalgam. Earlier in a press briefing on Wednesday evening, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said that the number of personnel in the Pakistani High Commission in India will be reduced from 55 to 30. India has also expelled all defense, naval and air advisers from the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi. These individuals have been declared persona non grata and have been directed to leave the country within a week. Similarly, India will withdraw its military advisers from its High Commission in Islamabad. Five support staff assigned to the service advisers in both missions will also be recalled.

India has also suspended the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme for Pakistani nationals. All existing visas issued to Pakistani nationals have been cancelled with immediate effect. The CCS also ordered the immediate closure of the Integrated Check Post at Attari, the only operational land border crossing between India and Pakistan. Pakistani nationals who have entered India with valid documents can return before the May 1 deadline.
