Don’t Believe Rumours’: Army Reaffirms Commitment to Ongoing Ceasefire with Pakistan

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The Indian Army has issued an official statement clarifying the situation on the rumors about the ceasefire between India and Pakistan. The army has said that no Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) level talks are scheduled today and the news of the ceasefire agreement ending is completely false.
'Ceasefire between India and Pakistan continues indefinitely, do not pay attention to rumours…', Army's statement on ceasefire: For the past few days, some media organisations had been claiming that the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan may end on 18 May, which created confusion among the general public and analysts. It was also said in these reports that DGMO level talks are going to take place today.
The Indian Army completely rejected these speculations and said, “No new talks have been scheduled regarding ceasefire between India and Pakistan nor has any date been fixed for the end of the ceasefire agreement.”
The Indian Army also clarified that in the talks held between the DGMOs of the two countries on May 12, an agreement was reached to maintain the ceasefire, for which no end date was set. This means that this agreement will continue indefinitely.
The army urged the media and the general public to get information only from official sources and not pay attention to rumors. This statement of the army has come at a time when people in the border areas were worried about the increasing tension. After this clear statement of the Indian Army, it has now become clear that the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan is fully effective and there is no truth in the rumors being spread about it.
