Drugs are Punjab’s Biggest Enemy, Every Punjabi Will Now Fight as a Warrior Against Them: Dr. Ravjot Singh

Jalalpur (Tanda)/Hoshiarpur(The Uttam Hindu): Punjab Cabinet Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh, Hoshiarpur MP Dr. Rajkumar Chabbewal, and Tanda MLA Jasvir Singh Raja Gill lauded the Punjab Government’s ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ campaign and called on the public to join the fight against the drug menace.
The Cabinet Minister and MP addressed a press conference following their participation in the Nasha Mukti Yatra at Jalalpur village, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Aam Aadmi Party National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal.
AAP leaders commended the historic initiative spearheaded by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Arvind Kejriwal, describing it as a decisive move in the fight against drugs. They criticized previous governments for neglecting the grave issue of drug abuse for political gains, resulting in a bleak future for Punjab’s youth.
Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh said that the ‘War Against Drugs’ is no longer just a government program but has transformed into a people’s movement, with participation from every section of society. He mentioned that Punjabis have always fought wars for the country, but now, this war is against the biggest enemy of our society - drugs. He said that strict actions are being taken against drug peddlers and no one will be spared. Additionally, facilities in rehabilitation centers are being enhanced to help those who want to quit drugs start a dignified life once again.
MP Dr. Rajkumar Chabbewal stated that this yatra has now taken the form of a people’s movement. He shared that daily meetings are being held in 351 villages across the state, where youth are being made aware and addicts are encouraged for rehabilitation. The AAP government’s goal is to make Punjab drug-free, and there will be no compromise on this.
Tanda MLA Jasvir Singh Raja Gill said that 118 panchayats from his constituency have written to assure the Chief Minister that there will be no drugs available or sold in their villages. He also informed that over 17 crores worth of assets related to the drug trade have been seized in Tanda, and many drug traffickers have been arrested and sent to jail. He reiterated that the policy of zero tolerance against drugs will continue.
