EOS-09 Fails in Third Stage, ISRO Chief Assures: 'We Will Come Back Stronger

Sriharikota (The Uttam Hindu): Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO)'s EOS-09 mission failed in the third stage. This information was given by ISRO chief Dr. V. Narayanan. It was launched from Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV-C61), which failed within a few minutes. The official X post said that the 101st launch attempt was made on Sunday, the performance of PSLV-C61 was normal till the second stage. A technical fault occurred in the third stage due to which it failed.
ISRO chief Dr. V. Narayanan informed that the performance of the first two of the four stages of PSLV was normal, but the mission could not be completed due to a technical fault in the third stage. He said, "We will return after analysis." ISRO wrote on X, "The performance of PSLV-C61 was normal till the second stage. The mission could not be completed due to a technical observation in the third stage."
ISRO launched EOS-09 from Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota at 5:59 am on Sunday. EOS-09 was to be placed in a sun-synchronous polar orbit, but due to technical flaws the satellite could not be placed in its designated orbit.
EOS-09 is an advanced earth observation satellite, which uses C-band synthetic aperture radar (SAR) technology. This satellite is capable of taking high-resolution images of the earth's surface in any weather and day and night. It can play an important role in agriculture, forest area management, disaster management and defense sectors.
According to ISRO, this was the 63rd flight of the PSLV rocket and the 27th flight of the PSLV-XL version. Before this mission, ISRO's PSLV had completed many successful launches so far. EOS-09 also had long-term fuel, so that it could be safely removed from space after the mission was over.
