Fake firing line: Thai Police bust Indian tourist's toy gun trick

Bangkok (The Uttam Hindu): A bizarre incident has emerged in Thailand's capital, Bangkok, where an Indian man brandished a pistol and caused panic. When police apprehended him, it was discovered that what he claimed was a gun was actually a cigarette lighter shaped like a pistol.
The incident occurred at Siam Square Soi 6, Pathum Wan district, at around 4pm on Monday, prompting authorities to respond.
According to the Bangkok Post, 41-year-old Sahil Ram Thadani has been charged with threatening behavior and disturbing the public peace. Footage of the incident shows him walking down the street, shouting loudly, and pointing a gun-like object at passersby.
When police and security guards tried to stop him, Thadani threatened the officers with the same object, which later turned out to be a cigarette lighter. A video shared on social media reads, "An Indian national created panic on the streets of Bangkok... He was intimidating and abusing people."
Following the commotion, local police detained Thadani and took him to the Patum Wan police station. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident. Authorities believe his actions may have been caused by hallucinations caused by cannabis use.
According to police reports, Sahil Ram Thadani previously served as a director of three now-defunct companies in India. Authorities are investigating his length of stay in Thailand and any previous records of similar incidents.
