Firing on Police Van on Quetta-Karachi Highway in Pakistan: 5 Policemen Taken Hostage, 10 Prisoners Absconded

Islamabad (The Uttam Hindu): There is news of a major security lapse and attack on the Quetta-Karachi highway in Pakistan's Balochistan province. In the Mangochar area, armed attackers targeted a police van and opened fire. After this attack, the attackers took five policemen hostage and escaped after freeing 10 prisoners in the van. The incident took place near Mangochar on the Quetta-Karachi highway. It is being told that the attackers ambushed and attacked the police vehicle in which the prisoners were being transported. The sudden firing spread panic in the area.
After carrying out the attack, the gunmen managed to gain control of the van. They took five policemen deployed for security hostage. Apart from this, they also took away 10 prisoners present in the van, due to which the prisoners escaped. As soon as the incident was reported, local police and other security agencies immediately reached the spot. The area has been cordoned off and a massive search operation has been launched to search for the hostage policemen and to catch the escaped prisoners and attackers.
At present, it is not clear which group is behind this attack. Separatist and extremist groups in Balochistan province have often targeted security forces and government establishments. This incident has once again raised questions about the security system in Pakistan.
